• Using every source​. Ensure each source is used to its fullest by analyzing the wording and content of primary sources. Secondary sources, such as reviews and research papers, can help break down the diction and purpose of primary sources. 

• Primary sources. There are many types of primary sources, including newspapers, magazines, interviews, and other content from the time of the event that were recorded by participants or witnesses. When using primary sources, take the time to observe and understand the biases inherent in each source and its author. 

• The order of research. Research your topic from broad to specific: start with online overviews such as Wikipedia (do not cite!) and use these sources to find specific primary and secondary sources. Primary sources are better for the bulk of your project, while secondary sources help with analyzing primary sources and studying the impact of the event.

• Finding sources. This section lists trustworthy databases and libraries that can aid your research. It also features tips on how to use Google effectively. Include quotation marks, dates, and specific keywords. 

• Some of the most valuable information comes from reaching out personally to experts, organizations, or witnesses of your topic. Send a clear and concise email to request an interview. 

• Citing sources. Keep in mind that each different type of source requires a different type of citation. Use sources such as mybib.com to check your citations.

• The importance of your sources. Make sure you are using sources that directly support your thesis. Primary sources and secondary sources are imperative for a successful project. Primary sources allow you to showcase how people felt in the moment, and secondary sources highlight the impact of the event.

• Annotating your bibliography. When adding annotations to your bibliography, explain how you used each source and why it was helpful, not what the source is about. Be specific and concise.

  • The components of a thesis are: context, "topic actually happening", short and long-term impact, and connection to the annual theme. 

  • Make sure your thesis is not too long, only around 1 sentence per component. Avoid beginning with your thesis right away in a performance.

• Crafting an interesting thesis. Your project should feature a hook to capture attention before stating your thesis. Ensure your thesis is concise and not overly wordy, and integrate theme words into your thesis where you can.

• Drafting your thesis. To begin, create a list of points you would like to cover in your thesis, and write what comes to mind. Afterwards, consider where you can integrate theme words and edit your thesis down.

  • Revolutions: sudden changes

  • Reforms: gradual changes

  • Reactions: reasons or aftermath of these changes (they are everywhere!)
