• Looking at the "befores" and "afters" of history. If something was different in the past, there must have been a change that impacted current conditions. Finding this change is the key to finding the revolution as well as your topic's significance in history. 

• Analyzing the effects your topic has had. A wide variety of primary sources is essential for presenting an accurate and complete version of your topic. Multiple perspectives provide an understanding of the emotional impact of the event on the public and make a project feel personal and real. 

• Analyzing an annual theme: how to make connections within the theme and to your topic. Consider how the 2025-2026 theme terms relate to and cause one another. Revolutions, reactions, and reforms all cause or are caused by each other. Find a connection from this to your topic. 

       Your topic does not have to be a successful revolution. "Unsuccessful"         revolutions may still have a profound impact.​

• Including multiple perspectives in your project. Make sure to include major and minor groups' perspectives to paint a complete picture of your topic and its impact. Take time to understand biases and how they affected events in the past. Keep your own perspective as unbiased as possible! 

• Understanding historical context. Understanding how various aspects influenced your topic, such as other global events, political climate, etc., makes way for understanding the reactions about your topic and exploring the long term impact of the event. Look at what happened before and during the event. Primary sources help with this!

• Analyzing the effects of your project. Find the effects your topic has had on modern-day conditions. Look for recent examples and modern-day issues. What did the revolution, reaction, and reform effect and what did they not? Avoid overgeneralizing positive or negative aspects.
